KIDS ARE COMING, KIDS ARE COMING!

This Saturday there is a work day to ready the Children's Ministry Wing for the children who are coming in September.

Remember the poster that Miss Joy put up? This is it. She had a few of the kids help to clean the plastic chairs a while back. This time it needs adult attention to make the wing ready for the children. Please try to help; there is only one month left to get everything ready.

Also, if you haven't signed up for the legacy wall to make up the shortfall for our new century project, and most of you haven't since the bulletin shows only ten of the one hundred needed, please consider adding your part.
At this level the elevator will not even get the shaft! ( or maybe it has).
The elevator is not just for old folks like me. There is at least one child who is wheelchair bound that can not get to the new senior high room because it is on the second floor. Without this addition to our building we are turning people away.

Thanks for your consideration in this,

Dave Frank

Boiler Room activity

This past Monday the Horst team started the day early and finished the day tired and dirty!

The new gas fired boilers were delivered a few weeks ago. Before they can be installed the old, oil fired burners needed to be removed. No small task, the two burners were the size of a locomotive and needed to be pulled out of the boiler room with a crane truck!

A new cement floor will be poured next week. A block room will be constructed to house the new boilers. The stairs exiting to the parking lot will be replaced and a new, interior stairway, will be created using the closet space in the "Sunbeam" room.

As the project continues and God uses us to raise the funds, the stairway outside the library will be removed, opening the hallway on the first and second level.

As Dave wrote a few days ago, we are on schedule to be able to enjoy air conditioning in every room in the church this summer, [except the kitchen. Like Hillary said... "if you can't take the heat... get out of the kitchen."]

Thanks for your part in this incredible project!

ITS GONNA BE A COOL SUMMER

This is part of the new air conditioning being installed at the church. Yes it's bigger than the one you have at home, but the church building is also bigger as well. I believe that the heat gets turned off at the end of the month so the old boilers can be replaced. If you have been to church lately and are observant you will have noticed that the pile of air conditioning parts in room 103 has been slowly getting smaller. However if you happened to look up you should have seen where a lot of the parts went.

If you haven't already agreed to being part of the one percent solution, please consider doing so. It would be soo nice to have an accessible building and the elevator is in the Phase II list. One percent over a two year period is only $104 per month. You can even get your name on the legacy wall if you choose to do that.

NEW OFFICE IS UP AND RUNNING

I went on vacation down south where it is warm and came back to a lot of changes here at the Chapel. I will put some additional pictures here in the next few days.
This is what you see when you enter the new office facility at lunch time (notice the lack of staff in the picture)! The office is spacious, the furniture is new, and the staff seems to be enjoying this new facility. The door in the back is Pastor Bob's office. The other two pastors live in the upstairs which also contains a conference room.
I had titled this picture "Terry's new digs" but the title doesn't show on the blog.

COOL RUNNINGS

If you LOOK UP at the stuff installed in the ceiling you can see part of the new air conditioning equipment. The end of this box has high and low pressure fittings like the one in your home unit. These will be connected to the outside condenser unit. The long side of this box has many smaller fittings to feed the other part of the system called air handlers. These are square boxes with fans or long plastic units like the one in the main hall where the two halls meet on the first floor. If you look up you can see one of them. It has louvers like a window unit and contains a fan.
Some of the air handlers are boxes shaped like this one that have squirrel cage fans. (these are just a different shape fan) All of the rooms and hallways will be air conditioned.

JERICHO REVISITED

THE WALL IS DOWN !
This is room 102 without the wall.
You can see the new stairway next to the water fountain and the new closet next to the stairway.
The stairs were beint painted when I took this picture so I didn't go up to get more pics. The painter said "all the walls are wet".
Yes, there is a new breaker panel on the left wall.
There is work being done in the ceiling for air conditioning so when that is finished the ceiling panels will be replaced.
The new restrooms are being painted today as well.
Pastor Gregg is moving into his office and has a desk, chair etc. already.
Pastor Bob is still using tables until his furniture arrives (hopefully this week).
If the furniture arrives this week, then the rest of the office where Terry and Debbie live will move on Saturday.

Construction is Stepping UP

This is the new steps to the auditorium from 102. You can see the new steps and landing in the picture on the left, and the landing into the existing Darby road entrance on the right.
This construction is visible from the Darby road entrance, but the lower part is still behind the "do not enter" enclosure in 102.
A door will be installed in the frame shown in the picture on the right and the space all the way to the right will be filled in.
The temporary wall will come down when the construction is completed.

PASTOR BOB RUSHES INTO NEW OFFICE

Yes, this is Pastor Bob in his new office. He has arrived but the furniture is delayed a little.

We will post another picture when the office is ready for him.

Actually I belive he is using the new office because the heat works there. Apparantly there is a problem with the heat in his old office and since the new HVAC system is not completely installed yet, he doesn't want to be out in the cold or "in in the cold" as the case may be.

The Other Side of the steps

In case you haven't seen behind the wall, this is what the other side of the steps look like.
You can see the door to the rear steps up to the auditorium on the left. The water fountain and the opening to the restrooms is just to the left of that. The space to the right is where I stood to take the picture showing the outside door on Darby road and the steps from it to the auditorium.
This space will contain a landing and steps down to this level.
All of what you see here will be accessible when the work is finished and the area is cleaned up.

THE END IS NEAR!

This is a view of the front room on the first floor of the new offices. The walls are painted, the carpeting is installed, and the tile entryway can be seen at the doorway.

You can see the church building across the street. The outside door of the church behind the permit on the right side of this window is the one from the last post showing the location of the new steps coming from 102. The other door on the left, the dark one, goes into 102 also.

Most of the electrical outlets and switches have been installed and covered. You can see some of them in this view if you look carefully.

Raising dust on the Steps

Some of you might be wondering what is happening behind the wall in 102 that says do not enter. ( Others have ignored the sign, myself included to get this picture).
This is the entry on the Darby road side of the church. You can see light from the door that goes outside and the railing and steps going up to the auditorium.
I'm standing in the old storage room that used to be filled with round tables we use for eating events. There will be a landing in that room at the level of the one on the other side of the hole. Then steps will be added down to the right into room 102 right beside the door to the rear steps and existing restrooms.
A number of you have added to your pledge amounts and some new pledges have been received for an additional $55,000. Thank you for your stewardship.
