Before they can be installed the old, oil fired burners needed to be removed. No small task, the two burners were the size of a locomotive and needed to be pulled out of the boiler room with a crane truck!

A new cement floor will be poured next week. A block room will be constructed to house the new boilers. The stairs exiting to the parking lot will be replaced and a new, interior stairway, will be created using the closet space in the "Sunbeam" room.

As the project continues and God uses us to raise the funds, the stairway outside the library will be removed, opening the hallway on the first and second level.

As Dave wrote a few days ago, we are on schedule to be able to enjoy air conditioning in every room in the church this summer, [except the kitchen. Yes it's bigger than the one you have at home, but the church building is also bigger as well. I believe that the heat gets turned off at the end of the month so the old boilers can be replaced. If you have been to church lately and are observant you will have noticed that the pile of air conditioning parts in room 103 has been slowly getting smaller. However if you happened to look up you should have seen where a lot of the parts went.

If you haven't already agreed to being part of the one percent solution, please consider doing so. It would be soo nice to have an accessible building and the elevator is in the Phase II list. One percent over a two year period is only $104 per month. You can even get your name on the legacy wall if you choose to do that.

Dave

NEW OFFICE IS UP AND RUNNING

I went on vacation down south where it is warm and came back to a lot of changes here at the Chapel. The end of this box has high and low pressure fittings like the one in your home unit. These will be connected to the outside condenser unit. The long side of this box has many smaller fittings to feed the other part of the system called air handlers. These are square boxes with fans or long plastic units like the one in the main hall where the two halls meet on the first floor. If you look up you can see one of them. The slot coming toward you in the picture goes all the way to Eagle road. It is for a 13.2 thousand volt feed to the box. A transformer about the size of a volkswagen beetle standing on it's bumper will be installed on top of the box. There is a second slot in the parking lot that goes from the box to the church building ( left from the pipe sticking up from the hole). It enters in the small room in 103 that is next to the Library wall. This is for the 1200 Amp service to the church. This is quite a bit larger than your service at home which is usually 200 Amp or less.

If you were listening in last Sunday service when Jody made his announcement you already know that we are back on schedule for the work being done. The architects have been contacted to see if we can reduce the cost by moving the elevator inside the building. The wooden stakes in the lawn are for positioning the exterior lighting for the property.

Also, we are pursuing a building loan from two banks at the same time.
This loan is needed to finance the work until the funds come in over the three year period of the pledges. This would be a good time to make a pledge if you haven't done so.

Your continued prayer for the New Century project is appreciated.

Dave Frank

Pastor Gregg's new office is progressing

This is 2 views of Pastor Gregg's new office across the street. So was I, so I went in and took some pictures while I was there.
There are ADA compliant bathrooms being installed. This picture was taken 12/09/2007 and it shows the walls (without the sheetrock) and some plumbing. I'll try to post some other pictures but am still learning how to post here.

I have some pictures from the office across the street and will post some of those as well.
I have asked my daughter (the artsy one in the family) to update the NCC board in the fellowship hall with pictures an news also. Stop by and look while you get your coffee on Sunday mornings.

As Pastor Bob announced Sunday, we are having difficulty with the building loan for the construction cost. If you would like to help, make a pledge (or an additional pledge) or just make a donation for NCC. If the funds come in up front, we won't even need a loan. This time of year we get lots of letters asking for financial help at our house. Make Grace Chapel high on your list of places to help.

Dave

Let the Renovation begin!

Five years of research and prayer concerning how to address the failing conditi0n of our historic building began with the pointing and sealing of the the front quarter of the Darby Road side of our church. The pointing is technically not part of our New Century Campaign. The this phase of the pointing project cost about $100,000. It was paid with funds we had in a reserve account.
We are in the process of receiving an estimate for pointing the Eagle Road side of the church and will proceed as God provides the funding.
